LAKE CHARLES – McNeese baseball returns home on Tuesday when it hosts long-time rival Louisiana-Lafayette at Joe Miller Ballpark.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Cowboys (3-4) are coming off a weekend series win at UT Arlington where they won the first two games by scores of 10-4 and 12-8 before dropping Sunday's finale 12-6.
McNeese recorded a total of 33 hits in the three games including 18 slugs on Saturday which included nine doubles, a triple and three home runs.
Individually,
Cooper Hext leads the squad with a .333 batting average followed by
Payton Harden who is hitting .308 and
Brad Burckel at .300. Hext leads the team with two home runs while
Josh Leslie tops the squad with seven runs batted in.
Sulphur native
Kainin Morrow will get his first start on the mound on Tuesday night. Morrow (0-0, 3.86 ERA) has appeared in two games on the year and has tossed 4.2 innings in relief work.
ULL (6-1) swept BYU in a four-game series last week and went 2-1 against Rice to open the season.
Iowa native and Iowa High School product Brendan Moody (0-0, 1.17 ERA) is scheduled to get his second start of the season.
As a team, the Cajuns are hitting .285 with three players hitting .400 or above – Mason Zambo .429, Heath Hood .423 and CJ Willis .400.
After Tuesday's game, the Cowboys will make a trip to Baton Rouge for a Wednesday night contest at Southern. McNeese will return home for a weekend series against George Washington.
