LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball will step out of conference play for a mid-week game at #10/12 LSU on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. with the game broadcasting on SECN+. The game is the first of two meetings scheduled against the Tigers this season.  LSU is scheduled to make a return game to Lake Charles on April 18.
 
McNeese will carry a five-game winning streak into Baton Rouge following its Southland Conference opening series sweep over Incarnate Word over the weekend.
 
The Cowgirls will look to snap a 12-game losing streak against the Tigers who have lost their last three games, dropping a three-game SEC home series to Tennessee over the weekend.
 
McNeese will enter the game leading the nation in double plays per game.  The Cowgirls have turned 20 this season.
 
Five Cowgirls enter the game hitting over .300 with senior outfielder Alayis Seneca leading the team with a .343 average. Chloe Gomez and Rylie Bouvier have a .333 average while Mariana Torres has a .306 average.
 
In the circle, Whitney Tate is 9-1 with a 1.38 ERA with four shutouts, 43 strikeouts in 71.0 innings.  Freshman Lindsay Davis is 3-1 on the year with a 2.68 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 31.1 innings.  Ashley Vallejo is 5-7 with a 3.50 ERA and a team high 46 strikeouts in 56.0 innings while Shaelyn Sanders is 2-0 with a 1.68 ERA in 16.2 innings with 11 strikeouts.
 
Danieca Coffey leads the Tigers with a .430 batting average while Taylor Pleasants leads the team and SEC with 36 RBI.
 
The Tigers have used six pitchers this season with Alea Johnson leading the team with a 5-0 record on five appearances with a 1.12 ERA.  Ali Kilponen is 8-2 with a 1.89 ERA and Sydney Berzon is 7-2 with a 1.39 ERA.
