LAFAYETTE – Winners of five straight games and seven of its last eight, the McNeese Cowboys will visit Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday night for the second meeting in eight days when the Cowboys and Cajuns tangle on the diamond.
 
First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The game will broadcast live on ESPN Plus.
 
McNeese (8-4) defeated ULL (7-4) by a 5-4 score last Tuesday in Lake Charles in the last meeting. ULL dropped two out of three games against Campbell in its last outing over the weekend.
 
The Cowboys will return home this weekend for a three-game series against Prairie View beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
 
Notebook:
• RHP Burrell Jones (1-0, 3.52 ERA) is expected to make his second start of the season. In his first start against Southern last Wednesday, Jones threw five hitless and scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in getting the win.
• 2B Brad Burckel leads the team with a .318 batting average and is tied for the team lead with Tré Obregon III with four doubles.
• CF Payton Harden is second on the squad with a .313 mark while leading the team with 15 hits.
• The Cowboys are No. 2 in the SLC and 8^th nationally in both stolen bases (31) and triples hit (7).
• 2^nd in the league in home runs (12), doubles (26), and sac flies (8).
