Box Score LAKE CHARLES – Louisiana-Lafayette scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally from a 3-2 deficit then held off McNeese in the final three innings as the Cajuns escaped Wednesday night with a 5-3 win over the Cowboys.
The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Cowboys who fell to 8-5 on the season. ULL improved to 8-4 with the win.
McNeese returns to action this weekend when it hosts Prairie View for a three-game series at Joe Miller Ballpark beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
The Cowboys sent five pitchers to the mound on Wednesday night. Starter
Burrell Jones had a nice outing by allowing just one run and three hits while striking out two.
Cameron Lejeune (0-1) took the loss after he was on the hook for the three runs that scored in the sixth inning that put the Cajuns ahead for good.
Offensively, McNeese's bats were silenced with just three hits, two of those by shortstop
Josh Leslie who had two doubles.
The Cajuns finished with nine hits that included two doubles.
