Cowboys host Prairie View for 3-game weekend series

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese baseball returns home this weekend when it hosts Prairie View A&M for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. at Joe Miller Ballpark.
 
Game two on Saturday will start at 2 p.m. while Sunday's finale will carry a 1 o'clock start.
 
These games will be the first three of 12 straight play at The Jeaux over the next three weeks.
 
McNeese (8-5) has won four straight at home, including a three-game sweep against George Washington last weekend. The Cowboys are 5-2 at The Jeaux on the season.
 
Prairie View is 2-12 on the season and is coming off an 11-7 loss at home against Stephen F. Austin. The Panthers have dropped six consecutive games.

Friday – RHP Grant Rogers (3-0, 0.82 ERA, 22 IP, 26 SO, 5 BB, .127 OppBA)
Saturday – RHP Derrick Cherry (1-0, 4.40 ERA, 14.1 IP, 12 SO, 8 BB, .180 OppBA)
Sunday – TBA

• McNeese is ranked 2nd in the SLC with 26 doubles and 7 triples.
• 2B Brad Burckel and DH Tré Obregon III are tied for 11th in the conference with four doubles each.
• LF Cooper Hext is 3rd in the league with three triples while CF Payton Harden is tied for 4th two two triples.
• SS Josh Leslie and Hext are tied for 3rd in the Southland with three home runs each. Leslie is also tied for 9th with 12 RBIs.
• Harden leads the team with eight stolen bases while Leslie has seven and Burckel six.
• As a team, McNeese is second in the conference and 9th in the NCAA with 34 stolen bases and has swiped 34 bags in 35 attempts on the season.
