LAKE CHARLES—The league's top two softball teams will face off in a mid-week Southland Conference series when McNeese travels to Southeastern Tuesday and Wednesday before returning home this weekend to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in its regular season series home finale.
 
McNeese (34-12, 14-1 SLC) returns to the diamond after its open weekend.  The Cowgirls head to Hammond on an eight-game winning streak after its 4-3 win over #15 LSU and its 6-2 win over UT-Arlington last week.
 
The Cowgirls will carry a team .371 batting average and a pitching staff low 0.80 ERA in conference games into the series while the Lady Lions enter the series with a .323 batting average and a 3.10 conference ERA.
 
Seven Cowgirls are currently batting above .300 with Alayis Seneca leading the way with a .347 average and 43 hits while Mariana Torres leads the team with 32 RBI and 10 doubles.  Also batting over .300 is Chloe Gomez (.337), Reese Reyna (.328), Torres (.325), Erin Ardoin (.313), Crislyne Moreno (.312), Corine Poncho (.311).
 
In the circle, Whitney Tate and Ashely Vallejo both lead the staff with 13 wins apiece.  Tate is 13-3 overall with a staff low 1.49 ERA.  Vallejo is 13-7 with a 2.45 ERA while Shaelyn Sanders is 5-0 in the year with a 1.78 ERA.
 
Southeastern (39-11, 14-4 SLC) is coming off an SLC series win against Nicholls last weekend where they took two of three games from the Colonels.
 
Bailey Krolczyk leads the team with a .396 batting average and a conference-high 57 hits. Also batting over .300 for the Lady Lions is Cam Goodman (.351), Maria Detillier (.348), Audrey Greely (.328), Lexi Johnson (.318), Maddie Leal (.308), Ka'Lyn Watson (.302) and Madison Rayner (.302).  Detillier's 41 runs and Goodman's 30 stolen bases both lead the Southland.
