LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball will face second seed Southeastern Louisiana in the Southland Conference Tournament title game where the Cowgirls will have to lose twice. First pitch is set for Noon on Saturday, May 13. Should the Cowgirls drop the game, an if necessary game will follow 30 minutes after the completion of game one with the winner earning the league's NCAA automatic bid. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
McNeese (43-14), the SLC regular season champs and the tournament's No. 1 seed advanced to its fourth straight SLC Tournament Championship game with a 6-2 win over the Lady Lions (47-13) Thursday night. The 43 wins tied a school record and the Cowgirls will look to three-peat the tournament title for the second time in conference history. McNeese, the only school to three-peat as the tournament champs, reached that feat from 2016-2018. The Cowgirls will also be looking for its ninth overall tournament title and its sixth title in the last seven played.
Southeastern (47-13) earned its way to the championship following its 8-0 run-rule win over Lamar Friday afternoon. The Lady Lions will attempt to win its first SLC Tournament title in school history.
