JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – McNeese's track and field season came to an end on Thursday when throwers
Mariah Lee (hammer) and
Blanche Beard (javelin) came up short in advancing in their events at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East First Round meet.
Beard was in sixth place in the javelin event following the first of three flights, throwing 147-2. She ended up in 25
th place, 12-feet behind the 12
th place mark. The top 12 advance to the NCAA Championships which will be held June 7-11 in Austin, Texas.
She threw 130-8 in her first attempt and followed that with a mark of 147-2 in the second. She fouled in her final attempt. Beard finished 35
th at the 2022 NCAA East First Round.
Lee placed 41
st in the hammer throw with a mark of 182-7. Throwing with the first flight, Lee hit her long mark on her second attempt after throwing 177-0 in her first. She faulted on her final attempt.
