SB: Recapping Another Record Setting Season

LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese softball completed another successful season and with it comes highlights and records from the season. 
 
The Cowgirls ended their season at its second consecutive NCAA Regional Championship game and the most wins (47) and shutouts (23) in program history.
 
TEAM
•- won a school record 47 games (47-16),
•- set a school record with 23 shutouts
•- set single season school records: triples (17), stolen base percent (.855), fewest errors (42), fielding percent (.978)
•- stole second most bases (147) and turned second most double plays (37) in program history 
•- won 21 of last 25 games
•- had a season long 11 game winning streak
•- played 11 games against ranked teams
•- picked up wins over ranked teams (LSU, Washington (twice), and North Texas
•- played six teams during the regular season that advanced to the NCAA Tournament
•- won 7 of 8 conference series
•- defeated then #15 LSU for the first time since 2014. The win was also the first home win over LSU single 2009.
•- set a new Cowgirl Diamond attendance record of 1,488 in 4-3 win over LSU on April 18
•- won its 9th overall SLC regular season title and second straight
•- repeat 3-peat as SLC Tournament Champs (only SLC team to 3-peat and repeat 3-peat)
•- ranked as high as 22nd in Softball American College Top 25 Poll (Week 15)
•- placed a league high eight players on the All-SLC team
•- Alayis Seneca and Whitney Tate were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team
•- earned the No. 3 seed in NCAA Tournament for the 4th time
•- first McNeese team to win three NCAA Tournament games
•- won the programs first NCAA Tournament "If necessary game"
•- advanced to its second straight regional finals
•- one of seven non-Power 5 teams to reach regional finals (San Diego, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, Charlotte, UL-Lafayette, and Miami-Ohio)
•- first SLC team to toss a shutout in the NCAA Tournament since 2009 with 1-0 win over Minnesota on May 20
•- the 1-0 shutout win over #7 Washington in the NCAA Tournament on May 21 was the first shutout Washington suffered in NCAA Tournament history since Alabama shut them out in 2015.
•- for the second straight year, McNeese was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by a team that advanced to the WCWS
