McNeese cross country will return to action for the first time in three weeks when it hosts the annual Lake Charles Toyota Cowboy Stampede.

The women will run a 5k beginning at 8:30 a.m. while the men will follow with a 4-mile race at 9. High school varsity and junior varsity, as well as middle school races will follow the college competitions.

The Cowgirls opened the season with a team first place finish at the Lamar Invitational on September 2. Led by a third place individual finish by
Jeny Barcenas in the 4k race, the Cowboys had three runners finish in the top 10 and four in the top 11.

The Cowboys are coming off a season-opening second place finish at the Lamar Invite. In that race,
Omer El-Fadl broke the finish line tape with a time of 17:30.70 and was one of three Cowboy runners to finish in the top 10. Roland Ortiz finished fourth overall while
Gilbert Kimutai was seventh.

The Cowboys will enter Saturday's race ranked No. 9 in the latest USTFCCCA South Central Region poll.

Following Saturday's meet, McNeese will be back in action on October 13 when it participates in the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invite in College Station, Texas.
