McNeese hosts Louisiana Tech in midweek stand alone

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Riding a four-game winning streak, McNeese baseball (4-4) is scheduled to play host to Louisiana Tech (7-0) Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. in Joe Miller Ballpark.

The Cowboys swept New Mexico State at home this past weekend heading into their sixth game in a row at home against the Bulldogs. In both teams' prior meeting, McNeese took a 5-2 victory away from Louisiana Tech while on its home turf.

Junior Conner Westenburg looks to ride a hot streak into the game as well, batting .448 behind the plate, collecting 13 hits in 29 at-bats with eight of those coming in the form of extra bases. His season slugging percentage has improved to .862 while his on-base percentage sits at .556. Westenburg took home SLC Hitter of the Week recognition Monday afternoon with his performances against UL-Lafayette and the first three games against the NMSU Aggies.

Right-handed senior pitcher Zach Voss is slated to take the start on the bump for the blue and gold with a 0-1 record hoping to collect his first victory. Voss has earned two starts through both games he's appeared in and tallied nine strikeouts through eight innings of work.

On behalf of the Bulldogs, left-handed pitcher Caden Copeland will start, owning a 1-0 record on the 2024 campaign.

The game is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start and will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available as well.

Series Preview
• When the two teams met up last on March 6, 2022, McNeese came out on top 5-2  in Lake Charles.

• The blue and gold sit 85th in the nation with 72 hits on the season, only behind A&M-Corpus Christi within the conference which has played two more games.
