LAKE CHARLES, La. - Claiming victory in four of its past five games, the McNeese baseball program looks to carry a hot streak into the weekend against Prairie View A&M at Joe Miller Ballpark with a three-game series.
The matchup kicks off Friday evening at 6 p.m., followed by 1 p.m. starts on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
"I want to get out to a great start," said head coach
Justin Hill. "Maybe it's an opportunity to see some other guys. The goal is to figure out who we are as a team and put the best team out there possible."
McNeese (4-5) swept New Mexico State during a four-game stand over the weekend and faced off with C-USA opponent Louisiana Tech Wednesday night. The Panthers have swept both weekend tournaments they have played in 3-0 to hold a 6-2 record through eight games.
Two batters for the blue and gold stand at .400 or better with junior
Conner Westenburg hitting .412 to lead the squad as redshirt senior chase Keeton sits slightly behind him at .400. The two have combined for 28 of the team's hits with ten doubles and two home runs.

• McNeese fell to Louisiana Tech Wednesday night while in search of its fifth-consecutive win over a C-USA opponent, sweeping New Mexico State at home in a four-game series.
• Three games against the Aggies came down to one-run with the Pokes taking all three hard-fought battles.
• After batting .579 with six doubles and a home run for eight RBIs through four games, Conner Westenburg was named the SLC Hitter of the Week. His slugging percentage reached 1.053 during the same timespan.
• Westenburg is tied atop the Southland in doubles and sits eighth in the nation with six on the season, just two behind the nation's leaders from Texas Tech, Purdue, and Troy.
• Cameron LeJeune is one of three Southland pitchers and 34 in the nation to own a 0.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
• The blue and gold sit 87th in the nation with 79 hits on the season, only behind A&M-Corpus Christi within the conference at 113.
• The team's 15 doubles put them 84th at the highest level of collegiate baseball.
