LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball will host Incarnate Word this weekend in its Southland Conference home opening series beginning with a single game at 6 p.m. Friday. The series will conclude with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
McNeese (16-13, 2-1 SLC) is coming off its SLC series opening win last week at Nicholls by winning the series opener 4-1 and the rubber game 2-0 behind two one-hitters by
Shaelyn Sanders.
UIW (16-6, 4-2 SLC), who was picked eighth in the SLC preseason poll, opened SLC play three weeks ago by winning the final game against Southeastern. The Cardinals are coming off a SLC home series sweep over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last weekend.
Crislyne Moreno leads the Cowgirls with a .354 batting average,
Samantha Mundine is batting .314 and
Alexis Dibbley has a .304 average.
Corine Poncho leads the team with 10 homeruns, 17 RBI, 21 runs scored, 15 walks, and is batting .297.
Sanders leads the pitching staff with eight wins (8-6), a 1.32 ERA, 91.1 innings, and 68 strikeouts.
Ryann Schexnayder is 4-2 with a 1.39 ERA and 38.0 innings.
Lindsay Davis is 2-5 with a 1.53 ERA in 39.1 innings with 21 strikeouts.
