FRISCO, Texas - McNeese Cowgirl senior javelin thrower Blanche Beard has been voted as this week's Southland Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Beard took first place at the 41st Annual Victor Lopez Classic hosted by Rice over the weekend with a season-best mark of 152-0. That improved on her league-best measurement while also ranking her 10th in the NCAA South Central Region.

A winner in all three outdoor meets so far this season, Beard will be competing at the prestigious Texas Relays this weekend where two years ago, she threw a personal-best 159-2 to finish second in the event among some of the nation's top throwers.

A Hackberry native and back-to-back SLC Champion in 2022 and 2023, Beard is currently ranked 16th on the NCAA East Region Qualifying list and is ranked 45th overall in the NCAA.
