FRISCO, Texas-- McNeese senior hurler
Shaelyn Sanders has been named this week's Southland Conference "Pitcher of the Week", the league announced Monday afternoon.
The native of Splendora, Texas, appeared in all four games for the Cowgirls last week, posting a 2-0 record with two saves.
Sanders picked up the opening game and series finale wins in the SLC home series against Houston Christian with her saves coming against Sam Houston in a midweek games and game two of the HCU series.
For the week, Sanders posted a 0.00 ERA in 14.2 shutout innings, gave up nine hits (all singles), two walks, 20 strikeouts, and held opponents to a .176 batting average.
The honor is her second of the season, also picking up the honor on March 18.
