LEXINGTON, Kentucky - McNeese Cowgirl javelin thrower
Blanche Beard held onto the 12th and final qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships until the third and final round at Thursday's 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East First Round, but a throw by Dayton's Casey Bogues was enough to slip by Beard, who finished 13th in the event with a mark of 157-8.
The top 12 advance to next month's NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Beard, the Southland Conference champion, threw 157-8 on her first attempt then followed with a 157-6 and 152-2. Bogues threw a 158-5 on her final attempt to slip past Beard and clinching the 12th and final spot to the championships.
Cowgirl sophomore
Hadley Ryland finished 44th in her first NCAA postseason after throwing 133-4.
Also on Thursday, Cowgirl sprinter
Kayla Harrison clocked a personal record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.64 and missing out on advancing to the quarterfinal round by just .43 seconds.
In the hammer throw,
Mariah Lee placed 38th with a throw of 179-9.

Jalon White clocked a 46.93 in the men's 400m dash first round, finishing 28th and missing out on qualifying to the quarterfinals by .27 seconds.

Jaden Powell failed to qualify in the 400m hurdles after running a time of 53.03.

Marcus Francis threw 57-4 3/4 to place 35th overall.

Hunter Longino finished 39th in the men's javelin throw with a throw of 192-8.
