GREENWOOD, Ind.—Seniors
Shaelyn Sanders and
Mariana Torres have been named to the 2023-24 CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District Softball Team, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
The organization recognizes the student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Sanders, a native of Splendora, Texas concluded her playing career with 20 wins and was named the SLC "Pitcher of the Year", All-SLC first team selection, SLC All-Tournament team, NFCA All-Region. She ranks second among McNeese career leader in saves and ninth in wins.
Sanders posted a 3.61 undergraduate GPA and a 3.75 graduate GPA this spring. She will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Torres is a native of Pflugerville, Texas who posted a 3.61 GPA and was named to the All-SLC first team second baseman. Torres hit .264 in with 37 hits, nine doubles, a team high three triples, 21 RBI, and scored 25 runs.
