LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball, the 2024 Southland Conference regular season champions will open play at the Southland Conference Tournament sponsored by North Oaks Health System next Wednesday, May 8 in Hammond (North Oak Park) as the No. 1 seed.  All tournament games will be streamed on ESPN+.

McNeese (38-18, 22-2 SLC) won its ninth overall Southland Conference regular season championship and fourth under head coach James Landreneau including the last three consecutive titles with its 3-0 win over Southeastern on Friday.  The Cowgirls will be making their 34^th overall tournament appearance and eighth under Landreneau.
 
McNeese will face the winner of Game 2 between No. 4 seed Incarnate Word and No. 5 seed Lamar at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning.
 
No. 6 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will face No. 7 Houston Christian at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 7 in a single elimination game then the rest of the tournament will be double elimination.
