SB: Christina Mathews Named Assistant Coach

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball head coach James Landreneau has announced the additions of former Louisiana-Lafayette standout pitcher Christina (Hamilton) Mathews to his 2024-25 staff.
 
Mathews, a native of Leesville, Louisiana played for the Ragin' Cajuns from 2011-15 where she appeared in 100 games, posted a career 55-11 record, a 1.99 ERA, 40 complete games, 10 shutouts, 389 strikeouts, and 447.2 innings pitched.
 
While with the Ragin' Cajuns, Mathews was part of two Sun Belt Conference Championship teams (2011, 2014), two runners-up (2012, 2015), and one third place finish (2013). The Cajuns also advanced to the NCAA Tournament throughout her playing career and advanced to the Women's College World Series in 2014.
 
Mathews had an outstanding 2014 season, being named an NFCA All-American along with garnering the James J. Corbett Award winner.  Also in 2014, she was named to the NFCA All-Region first team, Sun Belt and Louisiana Pitcher of the Year, All- Sun Belt and All-Louisiana first team as well as Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament team.
