EUNICE, La. - Cooper Hext garnered All-Louisiana Honorable Mention recognition as an outfielder in his final campaign with McNeese Baseball as announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers' Association (LSWA) Tuesday morning.

Hext helped the Cowboys make their fourth title game appearance in the last five seasons, three of those with him on the squad. The senior hit a team-high .314 with 75 hits on the season, with 26 extra-base hits. He amassed 11 doubles, seven triples, and eight home runs during the 2024 campaign. He served as a staple in the lineup, one of three players to start all 59 games on the season for the Pokes. He tallied a total of 34 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .519.

The outfielder stole a conference-leading 25 bases to sit 47th in all of Division I baseball while also sitting seventh in the nation with his seven triples, also a conference high.

In his final season, Hext was named to the Southland All-Conference First Team after being named to the Preseason All-SLC Second Team while also earning a spot on the SLC All-Tournament Team.

As a unit, McNeese saw multiple Pokes earn recognition with two SLC Hitters of the Week, one SLC Pitcher of the Week, three All-SLC/All-SLC Defensive Team selections, three SLC All-Tournament Team honorees, four SLC All-Academic selections, and two members earning spots on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

The Pokes made the Southland Conference Championship game for the fourth time in the last five seasons while head coach Justin Hill claimed his ninth 30+ win season at the helm of McNeese Baseball in 11 seasons with 2020 being shortened due to Covid-19.
