NATCHITOCHES-- McNeese women's tennis team had a productive weekend at the Northwestern State Lady Demon Invitational last weekend that included a championship title, a runner-up finish, and two third place finishes in singles action.
Erica Hagi captured the Yellow Singles Draw by defeating UL-Lafayette's Karolina Skowronska 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 in the championship match.
Salome Fluri advanced all the way to the Purple Singles Draw championship match but fell to UL-Lafayette's Angelique Berrat 6-3, 6-3.
Ariane Monlleo Sanchis placed third in the Yellow Singles Draw with her 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 win over Northwestern State's Zoi Spyrou.
Alexa Martinez also picked up a third-place victory by defeating UL-Lafayette's Nina Krecklenberg 6-2, 4-6, (10-1).
Stella Rundova picked up two victories in the White Singles Draw, defeating N. Garcia of Tyler Junior College 6-4, 6-4 in the second round and Northwestern State's Valeria Ortega 6-1, 6-4 in the third round.
In doubles play, Fluri and Hagi placed third in the Purple Doubles Draw, winning by default. Martinez and Rundova won the Grey Doubles consolation draw following its 6-4 win over Tyler JC's team of Dol/Scheerle.
