NASHVILLE, Tennessee – McNeese Cowboy freshman high jumper
Chris Calloura made his collegiate debut a memorable one as the Lake Charles native and Sam Houston High School product won the men's high jump at Saturday's Vanderbilt Commodore Indoor Challenge.
Calloura cleared 6-6 ¾ on his final attempt at the height to beat out teammate
Michael Berry, who placed second at 6-4 ¾.
His first place wasn't the only on the day for the Cowboys.
Ondray Miles took first in the 400-meters with a time of 48.13.
Tray'Quan Francis finished second in the 800-meters with a time of 1:52.45 and
Marcus Francis captured second place in the shot put at 56-1 ¾.
On the women's side, the Cowgirls got a second place finish in the 5000-meters from
Grace French who clocked a 19:20.79.
Latavia Jack finished third in the 60-meter dash at 7.66 and
Keelei Dorsey placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:21.44.
Overall, eight personal records were broken on the day.
McNeese's squad will be back in action on Friday when it takes part at the LSU Purple Tiger in Baton Rouge.
