LAKE CHARLES—Under first year head coach Sonia Carlson, McNeese women's tennis will begin its season this weekend with a 10 a.m. Friday match at North Texas followed by an 11 a.m. Saturday match against UT-Tyler. 
 
The matches are the first of four straight road matches to begin the 2025 season. Both matches will be played at the Waranch Tennis Complex in Denton, Texas.  Live video and live stats will be available for Friday's match against North Texas.
 
The Cowgirls will field a young team this season that consists of one senior Ariane Monlleo Sanchis who is coming off a 9-3 season.  Other members of the team are sophomore transfers Erica Hagi (Bellermine Univ.) and Ana Hollweg (Univ. of Indianapolis) along with five freshmen (Salome Fluri/Lostorf, Switzerland), Toffee Ghorab (Cairo, Egypt), Alexa Martinez (Sarasota, Fla.), Elena Morales (Sevilla, Spain), and Stella Rundova (Bublava, Czech Republic).
 
McNeese will host Dillard in its home opener on Saturday, Jan. 25, followed by Southern (Fri. Feb. 14) and Tyler Junior College and LSU-Alexandria on Saturday, Feb. 15 in a doubleheader.
