Box Score RUSTON--- McNeese softball let a 5-0 lead slip away Wednesday at Louisiana Tech in a 10-5 loss, dropping the Cowgirls to 14-13 overall. La. Tech improves to 13-11 with the win.
The Cowgirls scored two runs in the first inning of a RBI single by
Rylie Bouvier with the other run coming via a fielder's choice for a 2-0 lead.
Three more runs in the third inning extended the Cowgirl lead to 5-0. Once again, Bouvier singled to score two runs and a single by
Reese Reyna scored the third run of the inning.
La. Tech responded with six runs on six hits and a Cowgirl error to take the lead. The Bulldogs added another run in the fourth for a 7-0 lead before tacking on three more runs in the sixth for the 10-5 lead.
McNeese picked up nine hits in the game with
Jada Muñoz leading the Cowgirls at the plate with three. Bouvier was 2 for 3 with three RBI and Reyna also picked up two hits.
Maddie Taylor (5-5) was the losing pitcher after allowing two runs on two hits in 2/3 innings.
Allie Furr led La. Tech with three hits in four at bats.
McNeese will return to Southland Conference action this weekend when the Cowgirls host Northwestern State in a three-game series beginning with a single game at 6 p.m. Friday.
