LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball will host Northwestern State this weekend in its Southland Conference home opening series beginning with a single game at 6 p.m. Friday and ending with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
Â
McNeese (14-13, 1-2 SLC) is coming off a 10-5 road loss at Louisiana Tech on Wednesday that saw the Cowgirls give up an early 5-0 lead.
Â
The Cowgirls will also be looking to pick up its first SLC series win after dropping two of three games at Lamar last weekend in its SLC opening series.
Â
Northwestern State (3-21, 0-3 SLC), who were picked ninth in the preseason poll, will look for its first conference win of the season after being swept by Houston Christian last weekend. One of the Demons' wins this season was a 5-0 shutout win against No. 20 Mississippi State at the beginning of the month. Since that win, the Demons have lost their last four games including an 11-2 home loss against Baylor on Wednesday.  Â

Samantha Mundine lead the team with 11stolen bases apiece while
Alexis Dibbley leads with 15 RBI.
Â
