LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball will get back into Southland Conference play this weekend when the Cowgirls host Nicholls in a three-game series beginning with a single game at 6 p.m. Friday. The series will end with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.Â

Saturday's game has been designated as Bark at the Park Day. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs for the doubleheader. All dogs must remain on a leash and are only allowed down the first and third base lines as well as Pokes in the Oaks.

McNeese (18-13, 4-2 SLC) enters the series on a four-game winning streak and are coming off a 5-4 win over UL-Lafayette on Tuesday. The Cowgirls defeated the Colonels 8-1 on Feb. 15 at the I-10 Border Classic hosted by the Cowgirls.

Kassidy Chance continues to lead the Cowgirls with a .415 batting average and is tied for a team high 11 stolen bases.

Jada Muñoz, this week's Southland Conference "Hitter of the Week" leads McNeese in runs scored (31), RBI (20), home runs (8), is second on the team with a .382 batting average, and is tied for second on the team with 34 hits.

Nicholls (10-17, 3-3 SLC) has lost its last three games including a 10-4 road loss at Southern Miss on Wednesday. The Colonels have conference two conference wins over Stephen F. Austin and picked up the series opening win against UIW last weekend.  Â
