LAFAYETTE- McNeese's men's 4x100 meter relay team set a new school record Saturday on the final day of the UL-Lafayette Classics that highlighted a solid day for the squad.
The team comprised of
Kalen Beavers,
Koen Beavers,
Jaden Powell, and
Amari Godette posted a time of 40.05, breaking the old record of 40.09 set in 2000.
The Cowboys swept the 100-meter dash with Keaon Beavers placing first with a time of 10.40 followed by his twin brother Kalen who placed second with a time of 10.42. Godette finished third with at 10.43. Powell also placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a clocking of 47.96.
Marcus Francis, finished the meet as a double winner after placing first in the shot put with a throw of 57-10.50 today after winning the discus on Friday with a throw of 170-09.
On the women's side, Keelie Dorsey took home first place honors in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.29.
Jaslyn Russell won the shot put with a toss of 46-04.75 and placed second in the women's discus (146-05).
Ashari Jones placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 45-08.50 and
Brianna Underwood placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 127-06.
Darren Taylor placed second in the men's javelin (192-09), and
Tyler Challis placed second in the hammer throw (181-11).
Jaden Powell placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.96.
Christopher Calloura finished fifth overall on misses in the high jump of 6-8 while
Michael Berry finished 9
th with a height of 6-4.
