LAKE CHARLES – McNeese re-entered the 11Point7 Baseball Mid-Major Power Rankings Monday morning in the 25th slot after defeating Southeastern 2-1 over the weekend. The squad is off to a 17-5, 8-4 SLC start, its best start to a season since the 1991 campaign when the Pokes began 24-5.

The Cowboys were ranked during the third edition of the rankings in 24th ahead of when they faced Dillard and traveled to HCU for their first road trip of the season when they went 2-2 on the week.

McNeese went on the road against Southeastern who was placed at 22nd in the most recent poll (18th headed into the weekend) and won the series 2-1 with a 7-1 Sunday rubber-match victory.

The blue and gold have won three of four conference series, sweeping Nicholls 3-0 during opening weekend of SLC play, taking 2-1 series wins over Lamar at home and the Lions in Hammond. McNeese has claimed five of its six series on the 2025 campaign.

Offensively, the Pokes have outscored their opponents in five weekends, reaching 20+ runs in a series against Wichita State (20-13), Nicholls (21-5), and Lamar (25-20). The team outscored Southeastern 17-16 and Oakland 10-7 during the second week of play.

McNeese continues preparation for two midweek battles as it hosts Southern and Dillard for the second time at Joe Miller Ballpark Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
