LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball, the three-peat regular season Southland Conference Champions will begin their quest to win its fourth straight SLC regular season title when they travel to Beaumont, Texas this weekend for its conference opening series at Lamar.

The series will begin with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, May 7 and will end with a single game on Saturday, May 8 beginning at 12 p.m. All three games will broadcast on ESPN+.

McNeese (12-10), who was picked to finish second in the SLC preseason poll has won the last 21 games against the Cardinals (11-9).

The Cowgirls are coming off an 8-2 home win over South Alabama on Wednesday while the Cardinals are coming off an 11-0 run-rule home win over Texas Southern on Wednesday.

McNeese enters the series with the third best batting average (.290) in the SLC while the Cowgirls pitching ranks fourth in the league with a 4.26 team ERA.

Kassidy Chance leads the team with a .400 batting average with 20 hits, four doubles and 10 RBI. Chance and
Samantha Mundine lead the Cowgirls with 10 stolen bases each. Mundine leads the team with 25 hits with 11 RBI.Â
Jada Muñoz is batting .355 and has a team high six homeruns.Â
Alexis Dibbley has a team best 15 RBI with a .261 batting average.

Kadence Williams (1-3) has a staff low 2.27 ERA with nine strikeouts in 24.2 innings. Madie Taylor leads the team with five wins (5-4), 29 strikeouts, and 48.0 innings pitched while
Ryann Schexnayder (3.87 ERA) is 2-1 on the season with 19 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
