LAKE CHARLES - McNeese and Houston baseball announced Wednesday morning the two programs have added a game on Wednesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. to be played at Schroeder Park.
The addition makes it a home-and-home series for the teams as the Cougars are slated to play at Joe Miller Ballpark on April 29 later in the season.
The Cowboys sit at 20-5 (8-4 SLC) on the season, their best start since the 1991 campaign as the Cougars own a 15-12 record (3-6 Big 12). Houston will be the first Power Four team McNeese will challenge this season.
McNeese and Houston first met in 1971 with the most recent meeting occurring in a 10-inning game in Houston last season, ending in a narrow one-run victory for the Cougars.
McNeese is slated to return to conference play this weekend with a three-game series against New Orleans starting Friday.
