LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball will set out to become the first school in Southland Conference history to win four straight regular season titles this weekend when the Cowgirls travel to Nacogdoches, Texas to face Stephen F. Austin in the regular season series finale.

The series has been pushed back one day due to potential weather in the Nacogdoches area.  The teams will play a doubleheader at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 and a single game at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.  Saturday's doubleheader will stream on ESPN+.

McNeese (34-18, 20-4 SLC), winners of 11 of its last 12 games, secured one of two SLC Tournament bracket play pods (May 1-4) last weekend with its sweep over East Texas A&M.

The completion of games this weekend will determine tournament seedings and which pod each team will be placed.  The top eight teams will advance to the bracket play.  Tournament ticket information for the McNeese bracket play will be released Sunday evening.

The No. 1 seed will host the No. 4, 5, and 8 seeds.  The No. 2 seed will host the No. 3, 6, and 7 seeds.

McNeese and Southeastern enter the weekend tied for first place and the Cowgirls owning the tiebreaker over the Lions after winning two out of three games in Hammond earlier this month.

The Cowgirls enter the series ranked in the Top 10 in the nation in three categories.  The Cowgirls lead the nation's doubles with 100, rank second in doubles per game (1.92), and seventh in double plays turned with 27.

Individually, Ryann Schexnayder ranks fourth in the nation with seven saves and Jada Muñoz ranks eighth with 18 doubles.
