4x100 team makes history again

RECAP:
McNeese's men's 4x100-meter relay team made history against on Saturday at the LSU Twilight, running a sub-40 second time for the first time in school history when it clocked in at 39.98 to finish ninth overall in the stacked field.
 
It's the third time this outdoor season the team has broken the school record, first with a 40.05 at the Louisiana Classics on March 22, then 40.00 on April 12 at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational.
 
Team members includes Kalen Beavers, Koen Beavers, Jaden Powell and Amari Godette.
 
The time is the fifth-fastest in the Southland Conference this season.
 
OTHER NOTES:
• A majority of the track and field squad participated at the Rice J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet.
• Marcus Francis finished 2nd in the men's shot put with a throw of 58-7.50.
• Jaslyn Russell (48-5.50) and Ashari Jones (46-8.75) placed 3rd and 5th respectively in the women's shot put.
• Ta'Khara Johnson placed 5th in the women's hammer with a throw of 161-10.
• Sullivan Hanna was 4th in the men's 800m at 1:53.55.
• Ivey Washington was 5th in the women's 400m (59.66).
• Grace Sullivan placed 3rd in the women's 1500m (4:35.62).
 
NEXT UP:
• McNeese will compete at the Texas A&M Alumni Muster on Saturday in the final meet before the Southland Conference Championships May 13-15 in Houston.
