SB: Cowgirls Host Islanders In SLC Midweek Series Beginning Tuesday

Series Record: McNeese leads the series 45-13 since 2006 and have won the 34 of the last 35 games six games against the Islanders.  The Islanders took one game from last year's series in Corpus Christi, Texas.  All three games will stream on ESPN+.
 
 
LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball returns home Tuesday and Wednesday for a rare midweek Southland Conference series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  The series will begin with a 4 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday with the series finale set for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
 
McNeese (25-17, 11-4 SLC) is coming off a Southland Conference series road win at Southeastern over the weekend.  The Cowgirls took two of three games from the Lions and are now one game behind league leading Southeastern.
 
Texas A&M-CC (9-26, 3-12 SLC) have lost their last six games and are coming off a three-game series home loss against Lamar over the weekend.
 
As a team, the Cowgirls have a .334 batting average and a staff 2.92 ERA which ranks them third in both categories.
 
Freshman Maddie Taylor is tied for wins in conference games with six (6-1) and junior Ryann Schexnayder has a league best five saves.

• Samantha Mundine enters the game with a hit in 15 of her last 17 games...second on the team with a .371 batting average and 46 hits. Third on the team with 16 walks
• Kadence Williams (6-7) has a staff low 3.50 ERA
• Ryann Schexnayder (4-1) leads the team with six saves...has a 3.63 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 69.1 innings
• Maddie Taylor (11-6) leads the pitching staff in wins, 40 strikeouts and 89.2 innings pitched
