Elena Morales has been named this week's Southland Conference women's tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Morales, a native of Sevilla, Spain went 4-0 last week against Nicholls and UNO with all four wins coming in straight sets. She posted a 2-0 record at the No. 5 singles and a 2-0 record at the No. 3 doubles, extending her winning streak to 11 matches.
Morales defeated Nicholls Amalie GrubeAndersen in straight sets (6-1, 6-1) and UNO' s Ananya Dhankhar (6-2, 6-3).
In doubles, teamed with
Ana Hollweg to defeat Nicholls' Constanza Cruz/Sophia Sara Safarova (6-1) and UNO's Iris Danne/Ananya Dhankhar (6-2)
Morales is the third Cowgirl to garner the award.
Ana Hollweg (Feb. 4) and
Salome Fluri (March 25) are the other two Cowgirls to win the weekly award.
