LAKE CHARLES – McNeese learned its destination and opponent for the Southland Conference Baseball Tournament which begins on Thursday when the league released the bracket on Sunday afternoon, one that will feature a Louisiana bracket and a Texas bracket.
The Cowboys, the No. 5 seed, will play in the Hammond Bracket and will take on No. 4 Northwestern State at 1 p.m. on Thursday to begin postseason play. League co-champion and No. 1 seed Southeastern will battle No. 8 New Orleans in the nightcap at 6.
The two winners will play at 6 o'clock on Friday night after a 1 p.m. loser's bracket game. The bracket championship will be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday and again on Sunday at 1 if necessary.
UTRGV will host the other side of the bracket and is the No. 2 seed. The Vaqueros will take on No. 7 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on day one following a matchup between No. 3 Lamar and No. 6 HCU.
The winners of each bracket will play in the championship series May 22-24 at the highest remaining seeded team.
All games will broadcast on ESPN+. Ticket information will be released on Monday.
