LAKE CHARLES—McNeese head women's tennis coach Sonia Carlson has announced the addition of Leana Gomez for the 2025-26 season.
"We're very excited to welcome Leana Gomez to our program," Carlson said. "She brings a lot of experience, having competed at the No. 1 spot for Southeastern, and she's known for being a tough competitor and a great fighter on court. Her presence will add immediate depth and leadership to our lineup, and I have no doubt she'll make a strong impact from day one."
Gomez, the Venezuela native was Southeastern's No. 1 singles player the last two seasons where she posted a 12-9 singles record this season and a 7-9 singles record in 2024. She was one of four Southeastern players to win at least 10 matches this season.
In doubles, she was part of the No. 2 doubles team that finished the 2025 season with a 10-6 record.
