Kadence Williams have been named to the LSWA (Louisiana Sports Writers Association) All-Louisiana Softball Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Freshmen
Maddie Taylor and
Kassidy Chance were named to the first team, sophomore
Nyjah Fontenot was a second team selection, and freshman
Kadence Williams was named honorable mention.
Taylor, the SLC "Pitcher of the Year", first team All-SLC, SLC All-Defensive Team, and was named to the SLC All-Tournament team, led McNeese with 18 wins (18-7), strikeouts (64), and innings pitched (138.0). She ended the season winning 10 of her last 11 games and posted an 11-1 conference record, leading the SLC in wins. Taylor ranked fourth in the SLC with a 3.50 ERA.
Chance, was the SLC's "Freshman of the Year" who was also named All-SLC first team, led the Cowgirls in stolen bases (19) and was second on the team in hits (68), runs scored (47), and walks (24). Chance was also third on the team with a .378 batting average.
Fontenot, an All-SLC second team selection and SLC All-Tournament member, led McNeese with a .389 batting average and 72 hits. Fontenot tied for a team high in doubles (16) and triples (4), was second on the team with 40 RBI and 18 stolen bases, and third on the team, scoring 45 runs scored with 23 walks.
Williams posted an 11-8 overall record and a 7-2 conference record, winning six of her last 10 games. She posted the second lowest ERA (3.25) in 116.1 innings of work.
