SB: Cowgirls Face No. 21 Ole Miss At Ragin' Cajuns Invitational Thursday

LAKE CHARLES—  McNeese softball will travel to Lafayette, La, Thursday to face No. 21 Ole Miss (NFCA/GOROUT Top 25 Poll) in a 3 p.m. doubleheader as part of the Ragin' Cajun Invitational.  Games won't be streamed but livestats will be provided and can be found on the softball page on mcneesesports.com.
 
Admission for the doubleheader is $5 and only cash or Venmo will be the only payment methods.
 
McNeese opened its season by posting a 4-1 record with its only loss coming against No. 1 ranked Texas Tech last Thursday as part of the Twisted Vines Bayou Bash.  McNeese picked up two run-rule wins (Tulsa, UL-Monroe) and wins over North Texas and another win over UL-Monroe.
 
Sophomore Maddie Taylor led the Cowgirls at the plate with a .538 batting average after picking up seven hits including two homeruns and one double.  Cassidy Chance and Nyjah Fontenot also collected seven hits last weekend.
 
In the circle, six Cowgirls saw action in the circle.  Freshman Brookelyn Taylor posted a 2-0 record including her first collegiate win against UL-Monroe.  Kadence Williams and transfer Kynlei Chapman picked up one win apiece during opening weekend.
 
Ole Miss (3-2) is coming off two wins against CSUN and one win over Cal State Fullerton.  Their losses were to Cal State Fullerton and Boise State.
 
Following Thursday's doubleheader, the Cowgirls will return home to host the Carl Vincent State Farm Invitational Feb. 13-15.
 
McNeese will face Austin Peay at 4 p.m. and Illinois-Chicago at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 and the same two teams on Saturday Feb. 14.
