LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball (12-5) and coming off a 5-1 record last week will host No. 17 LSU Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Diamond. The game will stream on ESPN+ with Tom Hoefer and Mark Young calling the action.
McNeese picked road wins at Southern Miss and South Alabama last week along with two home wins over Missouri and one against Houston at the Cajun AC Louisiana Clash hosted by McNeese. Its lone loss last week was to Houston on Saturday.
LSU (12-4) is coming off a 5-0 record with homes wins over South Alabama, two wins over Michigan State, a 10 inning win over UL-Lafayette and a 1-0 win over Howard at its own Purple and Gold Challenge. The Tigers have won the last four games between the two teams including a 12-2 win in Lake Charles last season.
Rylee Cloud continues to lead the Cowgirls on offense with a .429 batting average with 19 RBI and is tied for a team high five homeruns.
Nyjah Fontenot has a .404 average and leads the team with 23 hits while
Jada Muñoz is also tied for a team high five homeruns and is second on the team with 18 RBI.

Brookelyn Taylor who was named this week's Southland Conference "Pitcher of the Week" is undefeated at 4-0 in the season with a 2.10 ERA and a team high three saves and 22 strikeouts.
Maddie Taylor is 4-1 on the season with a 4.09 ERA and 14 strikeouts.
Sierra Daniel leads the Tigers with a .449 batting average, 22 hits while Jalia Lassiter is batting .413 with a19 hits. Tori Edwards leads the team with four homeruns and 15 RBI.
Tatum Clopton is 4-1 with a 1.02 ERA and Jayden Heavener is 4-2 with a 1.46 ERA and a staff best 33 strikeouts.
