McNeese women's basketball will take part in the WBIT (Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament) as an automatic qualifier. The WBIT has been held annually since 2024 and is owned and funded by the NCAA.
McNeese will be making its first appearance in the tournament and will find out its opponent during the selection show scheduled for 8 p.m. (CT), Sunday, March 15 on ESPN+.
The 32-team single-elimination tournament will begin March 19, with semifinals and finals schedule for March 30 and April 1 in Wichita, Kansas. Preliminary round games (first, second and quarterfinal rounds) will be played at campus sites. All preliminary round games will broadcast on ESPN+.
The Top 16 seeds, as determined by the selection committee, will host first round games provided they submit a bid and meet the minimum hosting requirements.
The WBIT selection committee is comprised of five former Division I women's basketball coaches and three current/former Division I athletic administrators.
Automatic qualifiers include D1 regular-season champions who are not selected to the NCAA D1 Basketball Championship. The first four teams out of the NCAA D1 Basketball Championship, will receive an automatic bid and will be the Top 4 seeds in the WBIT field.
