LAKE CHARLES — McNeese Baseball will host its 2026 Tailgate Weekend from April 24–26 at Joe Miller Ballpark, as the Cowboys welcome UTRGV Baseball for a key conference series and one of the program's premier events of the season.
The weekend will feature a variety of promotions, entertainment, and fan engagement opportunities designed to provide an enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages.
Friday evening will highlight Youth Sports Night, including a pregame on-field parade for participating youth baseball teams. Fans can also take part in the "Stretch Every Inning" promotion, which will add music and in-game energy throughout the contest. The evening will conclude with a post game fireworks display presented by the McNeese Alumni Association. Additional offerings include a happy hour from 5–7 p.m. featuring half-priced beer, along with merchandise sales and on-field entertainment.
On Saturday, the first 250 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary McNeese T-shirt.
Sunday's events will emphasize family-friendly activities. The first 50 children will receive a pack of McNeese Baseball trading cards. Following the game, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a post game autograph session with select players, and children will be invited onto the field to run the bases.
Tailgate Weekend also provides opportunities for fans to engage beyond the ballpark. Participation is free, with RV tailgating available beginning Friday afternoon through the conclusion of Sunday's game. Attendees are encouraged to utilize designated parking areas, with overflow parking available in Lot A. Spaces designated for standard vehicle parking must remain accessible.
All participants are required to adhere to the McNeese Athletics Tailgating Policy, available online.
"We're incredibly excited for Tailgate Weekend and the opportunity it creates for our fans, families, and community to come together at the ballpark," said Aaron Castete, Director of Marketing. "With a wide range of activities planned throughout the weekend—from fireworks and giveaways to interactive experiences—this event represents more than just a baseball series; it's an opportunity to create lasting memories."
