Series Times Updated As Cowboys Set To Host Houston Christian Huskies For Weekend Series

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese baseball continues its four-game homestead as they return to league play to host Houston Christian in a three-games series beginning on Friday. Due to weather concerns the times for the series has been updated to a double header on Friday beginning at 2 p.m. with game two to follow 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Saturdays game is still scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
 
 The Cowboys (7-6, 2-1) are coming off two midweek victories over Southern and LSU-Alexandria where the offense sparked producing 26 runs off 19 hits in the two games. Starting pitchers in the midweeks had stellar outings with Jairus Miller going 4 innings giving up one run on three hits while striking out five to pick up the win to move to 2-0 on the year and Paul Coppinger tossing three innings giving up one run off one hit while striking out five to pick up his first win of the season.
 
McNeese second baseman, Matt Stancliff, was named Southland Conference hitter of the week earlier today after his stellar performance at the plate on last Friday night going a perfect 5-for-5 and just a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He finished last week batting .500 while tallying one double and home run with five RBI's.
 
Houston Christian (6-7, 2-1) is coming off a conference opening series victory over Incarnate Word as they took two out of the three games there, while dropping their lone midweek match up to #3 Texas 16-3 in seven inning Tuesday night.
