SB: Cowgirls Host SFA In Final SLC Home Series

LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball (28-18, 12-9 SLC) will host Stephen F. Austin (26-21, 10-11 SLC)  in its final home Southland Conference series this weekend beginning with a 6 p.m. game on Friday.  The series will end with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.  All three games will stream on ESPN+.
 
Following Saturday's doubleheader seven senior players and two managers will be recognized in postgame ceremonies. 
 
Senior players (Jada Muñoz, Rylee Eyster, Maddie Weeks, Lindsay Davis, Ryann Schexnayder, Delaney Dunham, and Rylee Cloud) are the players that will be honored.  Cowgirl managers Grace Janik and Blake Simon will also be honored.
 
McNeese enters the series in a three-way tie for fourth place in the league standings while the Lumberjacks come into the series in seventh place.
 
The Cowgirls are coming off a series win over Houston Christian on Wednesday while the Lumberjacks are coming off a home series loss against Southeastern, handing the Lions their first conference loss of the season with a 4-3 win in the series finale on Wednesday.  
 
McNEESE NOTES
• McNeese enters this weekend series with a 28-18 record and are coming off a 2-1 midweek series win over Houston Christian.
• The Cowgirls are currently in a three-way tie for fourth in the conference standings with Lamar and Northwestern State.
Nyjah Fontenot leads the team with a .371 batting average and with 46 hits.
Rylee Cloud is second with a .326 average and 43 hits.
Alexis Dibbley leads the Cowgirls with 14 doubles followed by Cloud who has 10.
• Cloud leads the team with four triples while Maddie Taylor leads McNeese with nine homeruns and 40 RBIs.
• In the circle the Cowgirls' staff has a 4.24 ERA and are led by Brookelyn Taylor who has a 3.23 ERA with 10 wins, five complete games, and 71 strikeouts in 97.2 innings pitched.
Maddie Taylor not only leads the team in homeruns, but she has the second-best ERA at 4.15 and has nine wins on the season in 77.2 innings of work.
