LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball returns to Southland Conference action this weekend when the Cowgirls travel to Corpus Christi, Texas for a three-game series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

McNeese (23-17-7-9) enters the series in sixth place in the league standings while TAMU-CC (10-29, 4-11 SLC) is in eighth place.

McNeese is coming off an 11-1 run-rule loss at No. 13 Texas A&M on Wednesday, and the Islanders are on a seven-game losing streak after being swept by Southeastern and Lamar and a loss at Houston.

The Cowgirls as a team have a .296 batting average and a staff 4.53 ERA.  The Islanders have a team .210 batting average and a team 7.85 ERA.

Nyjah Fontenot continues to lead the team with a .371 batting average with 46 hits, 36 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases.

Brookelyn Taylor leads the pitching staff in wins (8), saves (4), 58 strikeouts, and a 3.60 ERA.
