LAKE CHARLES – McNeese award-winning pitcher
Eric Nachtsheim added another trophy to his wall of honors when he was named an All-American by Baseball America, garnering second team honors.
It's the second all-American nod for the senior from Reno. Last week he picked up second team honors by Perfect Game.
In addition to the national awards, Nachtsheim was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region second team, was a first team All-Southland Conference selection and named the Southland's Relief Pitcher of the Year.
He's only the fifth Cowboy in school history to pick up multiple postseason all-American honors, joining Ben Broussard (1999), Kevin Mitchell (2001), Will Dion (2019), and Grant Rogers (2023).
On Tuesday, Nachtsheim was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team. He's the first Cowboy to earn All-American honors since 2023 when Grant Rogers became just the third Cowboy in history to garner Consensus status.
In 2026, Nachtsheim posted an 8-4 record with three saves to go along with a 3.39 ERA. He led the league and ranked eighth in the NCAA with 129 strikeouts, setting a school single-season record in the process. He appeared in 20 games making nine starts, threw 93.0 innings, compiled a 1.10 WHIP, and held opponents to a .227 batting average.
Three times he fanned 10 or more batters in a game with a high of 16 with no walks in a complete-game win over HCU on March 6. He faced just three over the minimum in that contest.
Other awards Nachtsheim garnered this season included being named to the College Baseball Foundations Initial National Pitcher of the Year list in March, being named to Baseball America's Week 4 National Team of the Week in March, and being named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week twice this season (March 9 and May 4).
