LAKE CHARLES – McNeese junior
Klaudia Gawlik has been named the Southland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Gawlik tore up the courts as she helped guide the McNeese State women's tennis team to an undefeated week and two consecutive shutouts over Louisiana-Lafayette and Air Force.
Gawlik dominated her competition as she picked up two singles victories in the No. 1 spot along with a win in doubles competition. Her wins in singles and doubles helped the Cowgirls blank ULL, 4-0 while she picked up another win in a neutral site match against Natasha Rizvi on Court One to help McNeese to a deciding victory over a strong Air Force team.
Gawlik improved her singles record to 4-1 on the season and is now 44-3 in singles during her career at McNeese.
The Cowgirls will hit the road this weekend to take on Sam Houston State on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. before traveling to Lamar for an 11 a.m. first serve on Sunday, March 15.
