LAKE CHARLES - McNeese State All-American and All-Southland Conference offensive lineman
Antoine Everett has signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the team announced on Wednesday.
Â
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Â
Everett wrapped up a four-year playing career with the Cowboys last fall and was one of the top offensive linemen to play in the Southland, earning first team all-conference honors as well as being named to the Associated Press and Sports Network All-America teams.
Â
The Richmond, Texas native was projected to be a mid to late-round selection in last month's NFL Draft but went undrafted largely because he suffered a stress fracture in his foot during his Pro Day at McNeese in March. He is expected to fully recover before the Bucs open preseason camp.
Â
A tackle for the Cowboys, Everett is expected to play the guard position for the Bucs. He is the only undrafted rookie the team has signed on the offensive line and is likely to compete for the team's final offensive line spots on the 53-man roster.
Â
Everett becomes the fourth Cowboy player to be playing in the pros.
Â
Last month, Malcolm Bronson signed a contract with the Chicago Bears and
Nic Jacobs was traded from Jacksonville to the Carolina Panthers. Also
Everett Ellefsen was recently selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League Draft.
