LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball returns to its Southland Conference schedule Thursday night and Saturday with matches at Stephen F. Austin (6:30 p.m.) and Lamar (1 p.m.). McNeese (14-10, 5-4 SLC) is coming off a non-conference home win over Prairie View Tuesday night.
The Cowgirls enter the weekend in seventh place in the standings with seven regular season matches remaining. This will be the first and only regular season match against both teams.
Stephen F. Austin (19-5, 7-1 SLC) is currently in second place behind undefeated Sam Houston State who is 7-0 in league play. Lamar is 3-15 overall with a 1-7 conference record and will face Nicholls on Thursday before McNeese on Saturday.
The Ladyjacks have won seven of their last nine matches including last their last five. SFA is coming off a 3-0 home win against Southeastern La. on Tuesday.
McNeese will go up against the top hitting team in the league as the Ladyjacks have a .261 hitting percent but on the other hand the Cowgirls are second in the league in digs, averaging 16.28 per set.
Angela McGownd continues to pace the Cowgirls and the SLC with 483 digs for an average of 5.14 per set. SFA is led by Hanna Makenzee's .347 hitting percent
