NEW ORLEANS, La. - The McNeese baseball team fell behind early and was unable to recover in its bout with in-state foe Tulane as the Green Wave rolled to a 10-2 victory at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium Tuesday night.
Â
The defeat handed McNeese (15-6) only its second loss out of its last 10 contests while Tulane (7-13) picked up its second victory over a Southland Conference opponent this season. The Pokes are now 3-1 against in-state programs this year.
Â
The Cowboys were out hit, 13-5, with
Ricky Ramirez, Jr. leading the way with two hits and 2 RBI in the contest. Ramirez, Jr. stretched his reached base streak to 15 consecutive games while
Robbie Podorsky hit and extended his team-best hitting streak to 14 straight contests.

Â
In total, the Cowboys used six pitchers out of the bullpen who combined for seven innings and gave up seven runs on 10 hits.
Â
The Green Wave jumped out to an early lead scoring 10 runs across the first five innings, including a four-run fifth frame. It was only the sixth time in 2017 that the McNeese squad allowed its opponent to score the first run of the ballgame.
