LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball will look to bounce back from a disappointing opening weekend with a road trip to Colorado for the Denver Classic Friday and Saturday. McNeese will remain in Colorado through the weekend for a match at Air Force next Monday.

McNeese (0-3) will face Sacramento State at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon before taking on Denver at 1 p.m. and UC-Santa Barbara at 5 p.m. Saturday. The Air Force match is set for 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. All match times are central times.
The Cowgirls are coming off losses to Samford, Kennesaw State and Loyola-Chicago last weekend at the Courtyard by Marriott Samford Tournament.

Ashleigh Fitzgerald. "We've had a great week of practice, and we feel like we have made progress in the areas where we got exposed last weekend."
Several Cowgirls had notable individual performances last weekend.
Colorado native
Angela McGownd, who hails from Loveland, returns to her home state after being named to the all-tournament team last weekend. McGownd led McNeese with 49 digs for an average of 4.90 per set last weekend.
Setters
Alexandra Aguilera and
Caitlin Sharrock split time last weekend with Aguilera dishing out 46 assists and Sharrock picking up 44.
Sophomore
Allison Lippert came away from last week's tournament with a team high .385 hitting percent along with 20 kills. Senior
Ebony Lewis and junior
Katelyn Elliott are the team leaders with 24 kills apiece. Elliott is coming off a match where she put down a season high 14 against Loyola-Chicago.
Sacramento State, the 2017 regular season Big Sky conference champs returns 10 letterwinners and heads into the weekend with a 1-4 record following a straight set loss at Santa Clara on Wednesday.
Denver, a member of the Summit League is coming off its fourth straight Summit League Tournament title, are the preseason favorite to win the regular season. The Pioneers head into the weekend with a 2-1 record with wins over Saint Mary's and UC-Irvine.
UC-Santa Barbara, a member of the Big West Conference, enters the weekend with a 2-1 record after opening the season with a five set loss against Cincinnati last Friday. The Gauchos ended their weekend with wins over Miami (Ohio) and Saint Louis.
